Juicy Little Gift Boxes

I confess. I couldn't leave well-enough alone. I just had to do it. I just HAD TO make full-size frozen concentrated juice container gift boxes. You see, I'd made these out of them. And the boy and I had made this. And Christmas is just around the corner. And I needed some little gift boxes. So that's what I did! And I know the whole juice-container thing is getting out of hand... Can you ever forgive a girl her repetitious-cum-obsessive behaviour? I certainly hope so. Besides, it was a very merry little time I had making these, and I am actually surprised with the results!

Have a look-see! I used pretty much the exact same method described here, and just added a few extra embellishments!

For example for this green gift box, I glued some ribbon on the bottom edge and then topped it off with a pretty circle from a National Geographic page (from a 1987 issue, when I was still a teenager... sigh) and one of my egg carton flowers. Those old National Geographics are a crafter's gold mine, a gold mine I tell you!

How to make coffee filter flowers

Upcycling:

I got a new coffee maker. It takes #4 cone filters. That left me with an enormous supply of basket filters. I’m sure there are dozens of things you can do with basket coffee filters. After all, they’re already cut into a circle when you flatten them out. But here’s what I came up with. 

Here’s how you can make these paper flowers.

For a large flower use about 10-12 coffee filters. Lay them in a stack and flatten them out. Punch or cut two small holes in the center of the filter. Thread a wire or pipe cleaner through the holes and twist tightly.

An old sweater or knee high socks.  I found this sweater at the dollar store.  How is that for a score!

Making Garden of Calamity Fabric Flowers

This week I have spent some time making flowers. It seems like such a zen process once I get my mind in the right place.

It's difficult to sit still for long periods and not be at the sewing machine or spinning wheel. I have so much to do and it seems like these flowers take so much time. I cut each circle from tulle, chiffon or organza and as the candle's flame melts each edge I do become tranquil and mellow.

A Super Last Minute New Year's Eve Decor- Another Disco Ball

I really had no plan of making this little ditty, but I saw shiny foil cupcake wrappers and as I find myself influenced by Aunt Peaches creative uses for culinary accessories, I was sold.

So to start with, I bought 3 containers of the cupcake wrappers and it ended up being just enough.

P.S. You get double the papers since there is a white liner between the foil ones...just look at the pile of crafting fodder I have left! Maybe I'll have to make a Lotus Blossom Ball like Aunt Peaches' in the link above.
