Super Simple Paper Flowers Look Great Now!

Paper Flowers Simple Scalloped
Simple paper flowers, made from scalloped circles, in gorgeous pastel brights....a nice touch of color that the world could use just about now. Don't you think? I have already started making some projects with these, which I'll be happy to show you of course, but in the meantime I thought I'd teach you how to make these so you can get started right away! And of course I always give credit where credit is due—I learned how to make these from a Craft Schooling Sunday contributor,
You'll Need:
  • scalloped paper punch, I used both a 3" and a 2", but if you only get one, go for the bigger one (If you don't own a scalloped circle punch and don't want to purchase one, you could try this with circles or cut some loosely scalloped circles by hand.)
  • laser printer paper, pastel shades, sold in a pack
  • metal brads, you know, paper fasteners? or a needle and thread or some thin wire
  • a sponge
  • a thick needle or something sharp to make a hole in the paper
How To:
  • Punch your scalloped circles and make stacks of about 12 pieces, or less if you use heavier paper.
  • For a round flower, use scalloped circles in all one size, while for a flower with a more defined center,  use smaller scalloped circles, say about five, for the center
  • Make a hole in the center of your stack with a thick needle, and insert brad, bending the legs open to secure the stack
  • Starting with the top most layer, crumple the paper up towards the brad to hide the brad. Continue crumpling layers up to get the look of a flower. The last one or two layers should only be crumpled slightly if you want the flowers to sit nicely on a flat surface.
  • Wet the edges of the paper with a damp sponge to give the paper a softer, more flower-like look. Don't skip this it makes all the difference! You can also try rubbing a rough kitchen scrubbie over the edges to fray them a bit, which gives an aged cottage look, which you might like too.
  • Experiment a bit and see what works for you!
  • And don't throw away all those scraps with the scallops punched out of them, up next is a craft using those, at least that's what I'm planning to do, we'll see if my vision looks good in reality!
